Enjoying Ohio

Namely, a certain Thomas who is the center of attention! :)

John called on Thursday night with news that the next day wouldn't be a good one for travel. A lot of snow was predicted, so I put off my intended journey, hoping things would clear up. It's a good thing I didn't drive on Friday, for it certainly snowed a lot! The weather was clear for Saturday, however, so I made the 12-hour drive. I left at 6 AM that morning, which made for a nice trip. When you can get half of your journey completed by lunch, it doesn't seem as long.

The highways were completely clear, and the road I had to take into town wasn't bad. I really enjoyed the scenery as I drove. You don't see snow like this in Alabama! The white horizons, the crystallized trees, the artistic placement of snow... What a testament to God's beauty!

Of course, the first thing I wanted to do upon arrival was hold my sweet new nephew! Thomas is my 5th nephew - and I also have 4 nieces - but that doesn't make him any less special. Each one is such a gift from God! Of course, I'm a little biased, but Thomas Enoch sure is a sweetie! :)

Miriam makes a wonderful mother, and I'm glad I can be here to help out for a week. She's feeling a lot better, more recovered from the birth, but I can still lighten her load by making meals, cleaning up, and of course holding the baby!

John makes a great father, and it's a joy to see him and Miriam as parents. We all knew they'd make amazing ones.

All of the pictures in this post are from John's camera. He takes really good ones, and Thomas, at 12 days old, is quite well documented. ;-)

So, if you don't hear from me this week, you'll understand. I'm enjoying one of life's big blessings: a helpless, adorable new baby. My arms are full of a bundle of joy!

Thomas is adorable! Congratulations to Miriam & John and your whole family. What a blessing Thomas has in you all.
(Joy said to tell you that he's "very cute".)
Have a great visit!

I am sure you are enjoying yourself (despite some of the hard work). It has been quite a while since I had a chance to help with/hold a baby. Looking at the pictures reminds me of some of the joys related to such a special time.

Thomas is a very handsome, cute, and beautiful boy. Thanks for the update to your current status. We were all happy to hear you had a safe trip. Those are really nice pictures. I'm surprised you took some time away from your nephew to to comment on the scenery :-).

What a special peek at Thomas Enoch ! I l-o-n-g to hold him as well. Maybe Dad and I can come soon...

Enjoy and soak up the joy ! Have said it before and will say it again, "There is NOTHING like a baby !" The new opportunity to love, to be loved, to share brand new smiles and giggles ! When our oldest, Luke, was a baby, we would find ways to get him to giggle and it was like the angels in heaven were singing !

Also, the beautiful opportunity to share The saving Love of Jesus Christ with this brand new Life and to pray for him and to teach him that God IS GOOD ALL the time ! Singing to a baby or to and with children must be one of the most joy filled times in my entire life !

Much love to you all, Mom

Thanks for posting this. He's really such a cutie and looks pretty happy too. I'm glad they have a happy baby, colic is so hard if a baby has that.

I can't wait to see him myself in March. Enjoy your time there, Anna.

Your sister,

Anna - where in Ohio are you? I live in the Dayton area!

Thomas is a beautiful baby! I'm sure you'll be such a blessing to have around while she adjusts to being a mother!

(Jen's cousin, in case you don't remember!) :)

I'm glad you all enjoyed the pictures! Thomas is indeed a cute boy. :) And it's really not much work - I don't mind cooking, cleaning, and holding a baby. :) I've even had time to study, scrapbook, and choreograph!

Lauren: We're about an hour from Columbus; I don't think that's close to Dayton?

What a darling! And you look so lovely, Anna! I don't envy you coming up here to the cold from down south, but I'm sure you keep nice and warm cuddling all the time. :)

Jen: Actually, I'm glad I'm in the north as opposed to back home right now. The temperatures in Alabama currently, I've heard, are miserably cold. Their lows may be the highs here, but I know it feels really cold, and if it's cold, you may as well have beautiful snow to enjoy! I'm amazed at how much it's snowed... nearly constant all day yesterday!

Plus, I'm warmer here than at home, though it may be colder outside. I like our wood stoves and their concentrated warmth, but the central heating here makes it more bearable! :)
