Labor Day Weekend with Family

We knew that my sister Maria and her family were coming for the extended Labor Day weekend. Last Saturday afternoon, I was doing some things on my computer, prior to their arrival. I faintly heard a violin playing "Fiddler on the Roof," and at first thought it was coming from a webpage I had open. As I ascertained that it wasn't coming from my computer speakers, the music got louder, right outside my window. I got up to look, thinking it was Jubilee playing her violin, but wondering why she would be playing it right outside, when I thought she was watching TV. When I looked out, I saw my brother-in-law John playing the violin with a huge grin on his face! Right beside him was my sister Miriam - two people I thought were miles away in Ohio! My face showed utter shock as I yelled, "Miriam and John are here!" in excited bewilderment and flew outside to give them a hug.

It was a wonderful surprise to have them come and spend the weekend! They came to celebrate their 1-year anniversary with us. It's hard to believe that it's already been a year since their wedding!

Lisa Beth sweetly made them a necklace, which lovingly tied them together. :)

It was great to see my sister Miriam again! I've really missed her this past year. But, I've rejoiced as she and John have enjoyed married life!

We played a lot of games together. This visit we played "Ticket to Ride," a very interesting and fun game that Miriam brought.

On Sunday there was a fellowship lunch after the church service. After we ate, some of us did some group dancing. The Virginia Reel was the first and favorite.

Even the little girls joined in! I was amazed at how well Lisa Beth, my almost-three year old niece danced along!

We also took some pictures of Miriam and John outside of the church, exactly one year since their wedding. Fun memories!

On Monday we went to the zoo on the spur of the moment, packing a picnic lunch and good cameras!

You get to see the animals in a new way through the eyes of a child.

Almost everyone agreed that their favorite animal was the giraffe. A quick rain shower forced us to take shelter, but allowed us more time to watch these beautiful animals!

I had fun holding Lisa Beth and getting her to smile. =)

We also enjoyed a ride on the train. It's amazing how much smaller it looks, the older you get!

We finished up by spinning on a new piece of playground equipment at the zoo. You're never too old to play!

Thanks to my wonderful family for an enjoyable weekend! It was a nice break before the busyness of this last week.

Congratulations to John and Miriam!

::stops to look again:: I'm a strong believer in the fact that peoples' opinions can change, but did Elijah just say he wished he could have danced????
Miracles do happen...j/k =)

Elijah, I hope you and Anna have a great visit!

I'm so glad you enjoyed a great visit with your family. Is that the Montgomery zoo? My family really enjoyed visiting it several years ago. :)
