Reputation or Character?

"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what other people think you are."- John Wooden

"Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man."
- Proverbs 3:3-4

Thanks Anna for posting this. It really helped me today with some things I have been thinking other people may think of me. I know I am not like what I think I am like, so my character is what matters. God knows my heart. thanks for that quote and scripture.

That's a good quote! It's something we need to remember.

Your post reminded me of a similar quote in I kissed Dating Goodye where William Davis writes "Your reputation is learned in an hour;your character does not come to light for a year."

Hi Anna & Miriam, I read your blog occasionally but haven't ever commented before.

The quote you have here is credited to John Wooden, and can be found on this list: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/j/john_wooden.html

Thought you might like to know :).

Blessings,
Kristina

Thanks for letting me know, Kristina. I had been unable to find the author and the place I found the quote had attributed it to "unknown." I've edited the post to give the author now!
