Covenant Prayer

This prayer by John Wesley in 1755 was on the back of our church bulletin this morning. The added emphasis is mine.

I am no longer my own, but Yours.
Put me to what You will, rank me with whom You will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be employed for You, or laid aside for You,
exalted for You, or brought low for You.
Let me be full, or let me be empty.
Let me have all things, or let me have nothing.
I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to Your pleasure and disposal.
And now, Blessed and Glorious God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
You are mine and I am Yours. So be it.
And this commitment now made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven.
Amen.

Really ponder and pray through this. Are we willing to freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to the Lord? It is my prayer that I will daily follow without hesitation wherever God leads.

That's really a blow to pride. To be laid aside for Christ...? It goes against everything we feel. But how else can we be truly His unless we give up our "right to work"?

Thank you for the post.
