Our 2nd Blogaversary!

It's now been 2 years and 402 posts since Maidens of Worth was launched on August 11th, 2006. Our friendship has remained strong these two years, and we've grown closer together. We have indeed been friends through the years. We've truly enjoyed doing this blog together, and have learned so much through writing posts and reading the comments you all so wonderfully leave.

It's hard to believe it's already been two years since we started blogging. Time has so quickly flown by! You've probably noticed by now that our posts have been on a wide variety of topics, things we've been thinking about, experiences that have happened to us, encouragement for others, or milestones in our lives. We hope that through it all, you have been encouraged in your own journey, and been inspired to try to live as "Maidens of Worth" for God's glory.

Things are going to be changing this year. Miriam goes into her senior year of highschool while Anna heads off for her freshman year of college, and we'll both be rather busy. However, we haven't felt led to stop this blog, as it's been an encouragement to us and many others. The post frequency will most likely go down, however. Anna especially won't have as much time to write as she has before, for she's taking a full course load, and college work will out of necessity receive higher priority.

We won't stop altogether, however! Each of us is purposing to write a post at least once a week. It's not a set-in-stone rule, and there may be weeks one or both of us just can't find time. Hopefully those weeks will be rare, but we won't stress over it! And, hopefully, we'll have time to publish posts more than just twice-a-week! This blog will be a high priority, but understandably, some things will need to take precedence.

Different series will continue, as we find the time. "The Daily Disciplines" may not be published once-a-week anymore (and won't be published this week, because of this blogaversary post), but Anna will try to write them frequently. "The Women of the Bible" hasn't been forgotten, and more will be added as Anna takes the time. "The 'Girly Things' Discussions" will continue as long as we find topics, and the "Siblings" Series will last until we finish spotlighting each of our siblings. The once-a-month reading lists will also continue. And who knows, more series may be started eventually! =)

Posts may become shorter, and just to warn you, we may re-post some of the things from the archives. In fact, if you're looking for something to read, be sure to check out archives or the categorized posts listed on the sidebar of both Maidens of Worth and Anna's old blog, "A Graceful Maidens Memoir."

Because it's our blogaversary, it is the norm for readers to let us know who they are! We don't want to overburden you, but if you could, whether you've been with us since the beginning or just started, please let us know if you read our blog! And in order to make it easy, we just have one question we'd like you to answer in your comment:
What is your favorite color?
Yes, that's it! It will be interesting to see which color is the most popular. :-)

And, if you'd like to tell us how you found us, what your favorite post(s) has/have been, and what topics you'd like to see us address or advice you have as we enter new seasons in life, please share! But, at least please answer the question above. =)

We look forward to the year ahead, and all the things it has in store. We look forward to sharing more with you as the days go by.

Oh my favorite color is red.
I have been reading your blog for several months, I found it through the Maidens for Modesty button on someones blog!

I suppose we should add our favorite colors as well. =)

My favorite color is pink, though I think you all knew that! ;)

My favorite color is pink! :)
Your blog is so encouraging and I love reading it all the time! Recently I've been flipping thru the archives and are loving them! I started reading your blog about a year or so ago-my friend had it on her favorite blogs list! :)

Congrats on two years! :D

I found your blog from a button on some other girl's blog, just like becky did, just this month. Your purpose is just great, but what really actracted me was the dresses honestly! I love sewing too.

My favorite color? It would have to be green; soft greens, dark greens--anything that mimics those lovely shades in creation!

Thank you girls for setting a Godly example and enouraging us to be "maidens of worth."

Hey girls! Actually I found your blog last night from the link at the Rebelution site! I haven't had time to read much but what I've seen I've liked. :) It's nice to find some Maidens of Worth in today's world. They're so few and far between. I hope to have my own blog on here soon, but it's not definate.

And as for my favorite color? Oh geez. I'm not sure. For years a dark purple has been my favorite. But recently I've also had this obsession with a dark celtic green. It's a beautiful color.

I remember receiving a link to your old blog in Nancy Campbell's Above Rubies e-newsletter a few years ago. I lost the link and searched my mind forever until I remembered "Dancer Anna." I did a search for that, found your blog, and have been reading the blogs ever since!

Pink, of course! :-)

This blog has so often encouraged me towards femininity, purity, and godliness. Thank you!

Well, if it hasn't been figured out by now, my favorite color is blue! Any shade of blue. Besides being my favorite, it is also one of my best colors.

And I've been reading your site for at least a year.
I appreciate your site, and really should come out of lurking more often.

Congrats Anna and Miriam on 2 years of blogging! You two look so lovely in the pictures you posted! :-) I have been reading your blog for maybe 2 years or a little less. I think I found you through the Rebelution. I've really enjoyed reading your blog, you bring out some interesting points.

I'll be praying for you Anna, as you go away to college. :-)

My favorite color is first royal blue...then any other blue, like Miriam. I love the deep blue color in the pretty! However, after that my next one would probably be pink. :-)

Jody said...

Pink, by all means, my favorite color is pink! In any shade, but preferably a light, girly, ultra-feminine kind of pink!

Love your blog girls! Big chanes ahead for you two! Be sure to keep us updated - as sporadic as it may be!

I am looking forward to your new blog, Miriam.
God bless you both,

My favorite color is lavender, but pink is a close second.

I found your blog a few weeks ago through a search engine - honestly I don't remember what it was I was looking for. But after reading a few of your posts from that week, I bookmarked you and have been checking back periodically. I am intrigued by your position on Biblical modesty, and I find it refreshing that there are still a few young women out there who value purity and modesty in all they do and say.

Congrats on two years worth of posting!

Rin said...

My favorite color is purple, so I love your background. =D

I just started reading your blog. Like someone else mentioned, I followed a "Maidens for Modesty" button on another blog and wound up here! From what I've been able to read so far, I love what you're doing. It's so encouraging. Thank you so much.

My favorite color is green, light, airy greens (though not lime greens), and rich, dark greens.

My favorite color is deep blue, like in the center of Crater Lake here in Oregon.

I think I found your blog through The Rebelution. I don't share many of your convictions (I'm probably your only Jewish feminist reader!) but I enjoy your writing and beautiful photography and reading about your lifestyle. Congratulations on 2 years together!

Your blog is wonderful! Even though we live in the same area and I know you personally, and have been involved in many of the same activities, I still like to read what you have been doing. I also enjoy hearing your opinions on certain subjects. Best wishes to both of you in the year! Andrea Kay
P.S. - My favorite color would have to be any shade of green, but I often say the "whole rainbow"!

Ella said...

Anna, I got your blog through something you wrote for Above Rubies. Then, I met Miriam...and I have two of my dearest friends!!

My favorite color is sky blue...I think you knew that!

My favorite color is purple.

Did you do Maidens of Worth purple because it is the mixture of your favorite colors?? :)

I found your blog about a year and a half ago through the Rebelution, I believe. Your blog stuck out to me more than the others I saw because of Miriam Rebekah's name... my own name of Miriam is so rare to see, and then you add Rebekah spelled with a 'K' to it?! I was very suprised to find there was a girl who bore my same name just a state away (I live in Georgia).

I've been reading y'all's blog since and have been very encouraged by your posts. I will be sad to see the posts decrease, but I understand busyness completely - I will be starting college as a pre-nursing student on the 20th. So the time I have to read your posts will decrease too. :)

When do you two start school back?
Miriam, do you know what you wish to do?

God bless you both!
The other Miriam Rebekah :)

Congratulations, Anna and Miriam, on your two-year anniversary!

I'm a 30-something journalist living in New Zealand. I've been reading here for about a year but I can't remember how I got here. I don't have much in common with either of you, but I enjoy reading here because you seem like intelligent, thoughtful young ladies.

I like reading about your sewing adventures. I have just started sewing classes and will soon be making a skirt - I'm so excited!

My favourite colour is turquoise; but my favourite colour to wear is red.

ReBecky said...

My favorite color is Green and Red is almost catching up. :) I started looking at y'all's blog a couple weeks ago so I can't really say which is my favorite post but I do appreciate the encouraging posts y'all post!!! Thanks so much!!

My favorite color is definitely purple. I think that I started reading about one year ago. I was just starting my junior year of public high school and I was so discouraged by the actions of many of my schoolmates. It has been such a blessing to read your posts and to know that there are other girls my age who still believe in purity, modesty, and faith. Thank you so much. Reading your blog has given me tremendous encouragement.

Congrats on two years of blogging!

My favourite colour is blue.I likely found your site through a link or the YLCF.I've been reading it for nearly two years.

I've enjoyed the posts on purity and sewing.Seeing your dress pictures helped to develop my interest in 19th century clothing.

How about a review/thoughts on some of your favourite movies? It's interesting to get another take on a film.

Anna Naomi said...

Thank you all for your comments! It's been good to get each and every one!

Blue seems to be the predominate color here, with 19 people saying some shade of blue is their favorite! Purple comes second with 12 favoring it.

And yes, we did make our blog purple because it is a combination of Miriam's an my favorite colors! =)

Congratulations on your second anniversary! I was first a reader of Anna's blog and then transferred to Maidens Of Worth when that began. It is one of my favourite blogs, with a charming maidenly atmosphere, which is hard to find nowadays.

I don't really have a favourite colour, though I like autumn tones of gold and russet. Don't like blue very much!

Change is part of life, of course, but I'm a little sad that Anna is off to college and Miriam to highschool, so there will may be be less time for your blogging.

However I wish you both very well and look forward to reading more of your adventures!

Thank you very much for all the effort you've put into your delightful blog.

Well, I'll certainly do my best to keep up my part of the blog.

I will admit, at first I felt a bit overwhelmed since Anna was leaving and I felt like I should do more to make up for that, but I can only do what I can do.

I can't promise to post more than I have in the past, but I'm hoping to be putting lots of pictures on "Merely Miriam".
