What I Know

Sometimes I wonder...

I wonder what the future will hold.
I wonder what college will be like.
I wonder if I'll be able to teach The King's Praise Ballet again after this summer.
I wonder what I'll be doing in 5 years.
I wonder why time seems to fly by so quickly.
I wonder if and when I'll get married.
I wonder if and when I'll become a mother.

But amidst all the uncertainties, there are there are things that I know.

I know that God has a purpose and plan for my life.
I know that the times are in God's hands.
I know that God will always be with me.
I know that God loves me.
I know that God is always trustworthy.
I know that God is faithful.
I know that my dreams are safe in God's hands.
I know that no matter what happens, everything is under God's control.
I know that God will work everything out for His glory.

What I know doesn't stop me from wondering, but it does help me not worry. No matter how big a situation seems, I know that my God is bigger.

And what I know gives me hope and assurance.

Anna Naomi, I can completely relate to what you said. I've wondered a lot about the future as well. Today I read the lines to a poem (or a hymn?) that struck me, and it's on the same lines as what you were saying:

Far, far above thy thought,
His counsel shall appear
When fully He the work hath wrought,
That caused thy needless fear.

Leave to His sovereign will,
To choose and to command,
So shall thou, wond'ring know thy way,
How wise, how strong His hand.

Wow! Thanks Anna for sharing that. I wanted to cry. I needed to be reminded of God's hand in my life. And His promises in Jeremiah 29:11, and Romans 8:28 I just got to trust Him (Prov 3:5-6) Thank you!

Very true! I find myself wondering about the future a lot. About what college, being a music teacher, raising kinds, and having a husband will be like. But like Jeremiah 29:11 says, I can know that the Lord knows all his plans for me!

Dear Anna,

I'm thirty, married with 3 kids and STILL:

I wonder what the future will hold.
I wonder what college will be like.
I wonder what I'll be doing in 5 years.
I wonder why time seems to fly by so quickly.

I know when I was your age, I thought by the time I was 30 I wouldn't wonder so much anymore but you'll wonder your whole life. That may sound discouraging but after a while, sometimes you can enjoy that or at least accept it.

Someday I hope to go back to college...and I wonder what that will be like.

I'm a mom now but now instead of wondering if I will be a good mom I wonder how to be a better mom and how my children will turn out.

Anyways, you're not alone in your wondering but you have the right perspective. Keep your eyes on God.

Maria

Amen!
I often wonder what I will do after I graduate next year, but though I want to know now, God will tell me what I need to know when I need to know it.
For someone who always likes to know exactly what will be happening in advance, it's often hard.

Bless you, Anna!

Anna, you are so right! I am so on the same page that you are. I definitely needed that reminder today!! God is good and He endures forever. His ways are higher than ours and His thoughts are higher also!

Glad it encouraged you all! God's promises are truly comforting. Indeed, we all wonder about things, and I know that many of you have the same questions. I thought I'd share to remind you all of our Father's awesome promises!

Hannah: Thanks for sharing the poem/hymn - it's really encouraging!

Miriam Rebekah: I know all too well what you're going through right now. Thank you for walking through with me as I searched for things to do, and listening to me time and again about what I did or did not want. Now that it's your turn, remember that I'll always be here to listen to and talk with you!

Ella: Yes, we are at around the same points in our lives. It's been wonderful to share it with you!
