Thanking God for Rain

Last summer was really dry. We rarely got rain, and the grass began to turn brown as watering restrictions were implemented. This year, there wasn't much rain either. On Wednesday I was walking Jubilee's dog (I cared for her animals when she was at camp last week), and I noticed just how dry things were beginning to look. The garden was baking, and the little green blueberries were beginning to shrivel up. "Oh Father, we need rain..." I prayed as I dragged the hose over to water the blueberry bushes.


That night it rained. And it rained really hard, for quite a long time! The next day it rained a little, on Saturday it rained really hard for much of the afternoon, and on Sunday the sky poured down some more. Praise God! I am so thankful for the rain!!

The sound of rain is one of my favorite sounds. I so enjoy hearing the pitter-pat of the drops on the roof, and a gentle rain is the sweetest lullaby I can imagine. Everything smells and looks so fresh and green after a rain... it's simply beautiful!

And the plants are now doing well! The blueberries soaked up the rain, and are beginning to turn to pink then blue. I enjoyed my first ripe blueberries of the season this morning. Nothing can beat the taste of them right off the bush.
