For the past few years, I've wanted to make a Christmas dress, but it just never happened. I'd also wanted a green dress, but each time I made another dress, a different colored fabric caught my eye. This year, I found the right fabric for Christmas, and it was green! It was enjoyable and exciting to make a new dress! After all the sewing I've done for dance, sewing slips and hemming dresses, this was a nice change.
This was my 5th time using Simplicity pattern 5041, so it went rather quickly. As my brother Elijah says, "You know you're old-fashioned when you have to buy costume patterns to make your clothes!" =) Who can resist, though? They're just so lovely!

Lovely!!!
That color looks good on you, Anna.
A touch of red does make it more like the Christmas season, but what about shoes????? :)
Thanks Miriam. =)
The Chatty Housewife: Yes, shoes would probably be a good idea! ;-) The weather here in Alabama has been really warm recently, however, so I wasn't wearing them - I prefer to go barefoot around home if I can. It's not felt much like Christmas climate-wise, though I think it's beginning to get colder.
Very pretty! Thanks for sharing... I always love your dress photos!
Love the bare footed touch! Beautiful dress, Anna. :)
God bless,
Sheila
How pretty! And I often use costume patterns to sew my dresses and skirts, I like 'em better! :) Shoes would be a nice touch to your Christmas picture, :) but I agree that no shoes is better! :)
"Some dresses were just made for twirling."
I wholeheartedly agree with you! Twirling is so fun!
Your dress is absolutely gorgeous!
Twirling is by far my favourite thing to do in a dress! Put me in a long dress or skirt and I'm gone! :D
Sheila
Pretty dress!! :) The red flower looks very nice with it.
And yes, twirling is so much fun!
Hehe, the comment about bare feet near Christmas time made me smile, because Christmas day is always very hot here in Australia!
Lovely dress!
Thanks for all your comments, girls! I'm glad there's others of you out there that like costume patterns and twirling. =) It's funny about all the comments about bare feet, since when I took the pictures I didn't really even think about that fact. :-)
Nice dress! I had wondered if you had made a Christmas dress before.
I agree with what your brother said.Do you have many dress patterns?
Lovely, lovely. Isn't that Simplicity pattern the Regency dress one? Anyway, the green is lovely. I know what you mean with fabric catching your eye!
Robert: I have a fair amount of patterns, from my sister before me and ones I've gotten. The old ones that are now out of print are usually my favorite. =)
Ella: No, the pattern isn't the Regency one, it's the pioneer-type one. Looking through fabric is one of my favorite things!
