With lows in the upper 40s and highs in the lower 70s, the house gets pretty chilly! There's nothing like studying beside a nice, warm fire when you're cold and your hands feel like ice cubes.

I know what you mean! I love this kind of weather! That's what the temperatures are like here right now. I woke up in the middle of the night last night freezing. I had begun to forget what this sort of weather feels like, after having such a long and hot summer!!
There's just nothing like curling up beside a roaring fire with hot chocolate or hot tea in hand and a heartwarming book!
I love starting the fireplace and like Rebekah said sitting in front of it reading, or maybe sewing. :)
I love the cooler weather, but I have zero access to a fire! Our house doesn't have one!
Yay!!! I love this time of the year. When I have to put on a jacket, it's really cold.
I just love a cozy fireplace in the morning. There's something about the smokey smell that always reminds me of times spent with family roasting hotddogs and making smores. :-)
Dear Anna,
I watched the clip about the movie "Return of the Daughters."
Have you studied Amy Carmicheal much?
http://chi.gospelcom.net/GLIMPSEF/Glimpses/glmps132.shtml
She was a single lady who never married but God used her greatly "out in the world." Many would have lost their lives and never found Christ if she has never gone away from her parents.
I just think you would find her life inspiring.
I love you so much...
Your eldest sister,
Maria
Rebekah, I know what you mean! The summer has been quite long...
Under Southern Skies, yes it is fun to sew in front of the fire as well! I've taken my cross stitch projects there for a pleasant time.
Ella, fires can be messy, but they're also fun to sit by. Since we heat our house mainly by our two wood stoves, it's imperative that we have them going!
Miriam, that's for sure! I always seem to be much colder than you. =)
Maria, yes I have studied Amy Carmicheal, reading A Chance to Die by Elisabeth Elliot and one or two others. She's very inspiring, and yes, God used her away from her family, as He has many other single ladies. I think it has to be a definite calling to do something like that, and sometimes God calls others to do different things, perhaps even to stay home and continue learning from there. I don't have definite plans yet, but I'm trying to explore all the options. We'll be visiting Belhaven this weekend. However, "The Return of the Daughters" really made sense and was inspiring.
We lit our first fire yesterday! I LOOOVE fall!

My sister (who lives in PA where I was raised) and I agree: you are CRAZY to think lower 70's and upper 40's is cold! :) hee hee! I guess to each his own!
love ya!
Michele
Oh! That sounds wonderful! I love cold weather! Mommy and I have always dreamed of having a wood burning stove or a fireplace!
God Bless!

Michele, I agree - it's not truly cold weather! =) However, after such a long hot season, it does feel chilly.
Oh yes, I'm loving the change in weather! I can't wait until winter, though. I'm sure it would be nice to have a fireplace! We had one in the last house we lived in, and we enjoyed it.
Thank you for your comment about my dress. I also love the full skirts!
I too have been doing Apologia science since 7th grade and will use no other! My friend in 7th grade feels the same way!
You must be in 11th grade? I am too and was supposed to take Physics this year, but decided to do Advanced Chemistry this year and Advanced Biology next year. (I'm not a Physics fan!) I also skipped my Physical Science year, so I have no idea what kind of experiments you did!
I hope you have a great week!
~Alexandra
I love a fire! Unfortunately, our fireplace is gas. But, hopefully we will be getting a wood burning fireplace soon. How cozy you look!
