- We believe in dressing in modest apparel, as it says in 1 Timothy 2:8-9 - "I also want a women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."
- We believe in saving our bodies and not exposing them to others, but protecting what God has given us.
- We believe in being modest in the way we act, talk, walk, and carry ourselves.
- We know that true modesty begins in the heart, and is an attitude more than what we wear.
- We believe in behaving discretely and with modesty.
- However, our clothing usually displays our true self, and we believe in dressing modestly to be a witness to others.
- We know that modesty isn't a legalistic set of rules, but rather guidelines to help determine what we should wear.
- We believe in presenting discretion and dignity in what we wear and how we behave- "Like a gold ring in a pig's snout is a beautiful women who shows no discretion." ~ Proverbs 11:22
- We believe in helping to protect men from the visual attack by dressing modestly as their sisters-in-Christ
- We believe in dressing in a way that glorifies God, not our body.
- We believe that modesty and purity are always in fashion!
- We believe that modesty isn't old-fashioned - you don't have to wear colonial dresses (like the ones in the picture) or have waist-length hair to be modest!
- We believe that fear of the Lord is the most beautiful thing - “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” ~ Proverbs 31:30
We are not perfect and we don't have modesty all figured out. However, we believe that we should honor God in the way we dress. We are committed to living a life of modesty, for we are

I put the maidens for Modesty on my blog, Mayden Fair. I want to join. Sounds like fun, and inspiring!
YOu know, you should create a directory of maidens modestly dressing, so that other girls, can find fellowship in their area! I know how it is, to find girls, to fellowship with, who like to dress modestly!
Laura H
Wonderful post! And yes, just like you stated, modesty isn't a long list of do's and don't's, but begins in our hearts, when we commit to purity and want it to show!
I too, placed the Maidens for Modesty on my blog. I love that picture; to me it is a great example of modesty. Have a wonderful week!
I put the Maidens for Modesty on my blog, too! What a wonderful idea! I also like the idea of a directory. It's hard (especially going to a very liberal college) to find other girls who believe in modest dress, and it's so nice to know that there are people out there with the same values as me!
God Bless!
The directory is a good idea - I'd thought of doing it! Now that you've suggested it, I've added a listing of those with the button on their blog to the original post.
You girls can definitely put me on here. Modesty is greatly important to me, both externally and internally.
You know, ya'll sounded like the Rebultion a tiny bit in reference to modesty not being a set of legalistic rules. I like it!
Maybe someone can help me....I have tweaked this around, and I can't get it to either link or to show the picture up on my blog!
I am putting this on my blog if I can! (sometimes it doesn't work so well!)
Hmm. maybe someone has some suggestions! This absolutely will not show up! I've tried several times now. =) Great post, anyways!
I think the code got messed up when the post was edited. You can find the correct code here:
http://pastebin.com/f324207fd
Sorry about that... Somehow when I edited the post to add the links, the code got messed up. It should be working now.
Thank you very much,,it's now working beautifully!
You've been tagged. It is a middle name Meme. Look up http://countryrosebud.blogspot.com for more details!
In Christ Alone!

Thank you Anna and Elijah. The link is now up and running on my blog!
It's now on my blog as well. :) I love the idea of the directory...Thanks for making the Maidens for Modesty button! I've been wanting to add something like that to my blog for some time now, and I'm so glad it was you girls who did it. :D
God Bless!

Dear Maidens,
As I said before I am greatly encouraged to see young girls with the values you present on this site. However if I may I would like to make a few comments for you to think over. They are not really criticisms as much as suggestions.
On such a statement of modest values you may like to mention the necessity of discreetness of behaviour a little more. I am sure that you are discreet, and that you could teach a lot in this area. I say this because I fear that too often modesty is viewed as merely a matter of clothing. I have met girls who are modest in dress but indiscreet in behaviour especially speech. They thus lose that beautiful dignity and feminineness that should go with their clothes.
The other is more important. Although it is probably made clear on your site I worry about your message being too connected to the clothes worn in the picture. I love the clothes, indeed I would love to see a day when such clothes could be worn without it being regarded as terribly odd. I believe that Christians, especially girls, must be willing to be odd - though I dress a little differently from the average young man - but not more than is necessary. Of course to be feminine and modest that will be a good bit differently from the average. However, I fear some will allow the picture to prejudice them against your message - which is vital for the Church.
Anyway, A few comments or points about discretion and such like would, I believe, make an improvement. Regarding the second point a mere mention of the fact that the period clothing is not essential to modesty would be sufficient. I am certainly not saying to change the picture - especially as it shows your Biblically long hair. As I said, these points are probably mentioned sufficiently elsewhere on your site, but the problem is that they will not be read by all.
I trust I have not offended you.
G.M
What a wonderful idea! I will put the code on my blog too. I appreciate what you girls are doing here on your blog to stand for modesty. :-)
G.M., thanks for your suggestions! I have edited the post somewhat to add more on behavior, and to let them know that old-fashioned doesn't equal modesty!
I appreciate the input you all give!
Dear Anna Naomi,
Your humility in accepting suggestions is commendable. I hope that I am as ready to do so from a stranger. If you ever visit my site please feel totally free to offer any suggestions.
I wish all girls were convinced of the points in your 'Values'. I wonder how much professedly Christian girls who do not dress modestly understand of the effect they have on their brothers. Their fathers need to tell them; but surly they are at least a little aware? Is it the case that they dress that way because they know it attracts attention?
May God be pleased to bring a day when dressing immodestly will almost guarantee that a young professing Christian girl will stay single. Sadly we men - even those of us that profess Christ - often encourage such immodesty by our attention to the girls that dress in that way.
I heard a good statement recently: A man said to his daughter when she sought to go out in clothing that was less than modest, 'If you’re not for sale, don't advertise!'
I am glad I gave you no offence.
G.M
Dear Anna Naomi,
Sorry, I meant to say that I said, 'Biblically long hair' not because of the exact length, but because of the general ‘long-ness’.
G.M
This is wonderful. I love your emphasis on modest behavior and clothing. I am not much into putting buttons on my sidebar, but I wholeheartedly agree with your values. Keep up the good work!
I've put the 'Maidens for Modesty' on my blog.
Great post!
BonnieBee: You don't have a link to your blog in your profile; could you post a link to your blog, so that we can link to you in the post?
I meant to comment before! Sorry! This is so great, girls! If it's okay, I would love to be part of 'Maidens for Modesty'! I will put the icon on my blog right now.
This is so important. Over the years, I've gained a better idea of what I want to see in myself in regards to modesty. I think this might be another post starter for my blog! :)
God bless,
Sheila

I just wanted to let you know that I put the 'Maidens for Modesty' link on my blog. I think that this blog is wonderfully inspiring for those of us who are aiming for modesty.
I'm not a Maiden for Modesty - I'm a Matron for Modesty haha! I just wanted to say that I am so deeply moved by this revolution of modesty that is taking place in the world. I don't mean to make you sound like little kids, it's just that I am thrilled beyond belief to see so many modest young women with blogs like this one! GOD BLESS YOU! Keep up the good work passing the torch!
Your sister in Christ,
Michelle Therese
I just posted this link on my blog.
Thank you so much for doing this!

I just put the button on my blog. (Actually, I just figured out how to do that, I'm new to this!) Thanks so much for making this available.
Hello,
I put the icon on my blog. This is a really neat ministry you have. God bless you.
Arya
Arya, what is your blog address?
Excellent idea! I've added the image to my sidebar.

Hello!
I just put the Maidens button on our blog!
Just a little note... I enjoy reading your site so much! You always have such encouraging posts and I really appreciate it! Thank you!
Though Christ always,
~Hannah M.~
I just wanted to let you know that my site name changed. (You have it listd as Lisa's Little Corner, I recently changed it to "A Rose Amongst Thorns", the former name was more of a place holder until I could find something that fit what I was looking for). If you don't mind changing it that would be great (the address is the same). Thanks
Hi, I've added your button to my blog.
Hi, I added your graphic to my blogspot site. I plan on adding it to my other websites too! Great site! Keep serving Christ!
Mardi
Mardi, your profile doesn't have a link to your site - could you give it to us? Thanks.
I put Maidens for Modesty on my blog, Kristina's Keepsakes.
This was a true blessing to find!
I put Maidens for Modesty on my blog, singlemomshelp.blogspot.com. This post is so very important in this age when the media and TV display women showing so much of their bodies with tight and revealing clothes. How are men to respect and honor us, as God intended, if we don't dress modestly? Thank you so much for this post. It's something that I've felt for a long time, but didn't know how many others felt the same.
I also added Maidens for Modesty on my blog and want to let you know how much it blesses my spirit to see such commitment to honor the Lord. Modesty internally and externally, you girls are beautiful and I will hold you and yours in my prayers.
May the Lord bless and keep guiding you down the narrow path.
AutiMama, Thanks for the encouragement! May we have a link to your blog? Your profile can't be displayed.
Great post! I have put maidens for modesty on my blog.
Hello! I just started my blog and put the Maidens for Modesty pic on it. I think it is amazing how many Maidens you have found.
My sister is Allison form Letter From Christ so that's how I found you. I love you modesty virtues. I am definitely putting this on my blog.
I'm placing this on my blog...Very nice!
Ooops...forgot my new blog address: www.mrsgaylynn.wordpress.com
Hello,
Anna Wilkinson here, from Simple Living Alaska. I've put the 'Maidens for Modesty' on my blog. I am thankful for such a neat idea, you have come up with. So we can all stand together against this worlds negative flow. Please add me to your list!

We added you to our website too!
I have added your link to my blog, Polished Cornerstone!
Who makes these beautiful dresses? In the tag you are offering. Just beautiful!!!!
I (Anna) made the pink one, Miriam made the blue one, and Mrs. Hart (Miriam's mom) made the purple one. We enjoy sewing! =)
I put it on Beautiful Grace. I really like the picture. Thank you for promoting modesty.
Maria Pauline
I've put the 'Maidens for Modesty' on my blog.
Great post!
Hello, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your button and values. It is important. Not only for the way we display Christ through our lives, but also for the way we affect our christian brothers (no, not all christian girls are aware. I wasn't, until my cousin commented it, and even after that it's been a long way to understand what a garment reveales on a body compared to what it looks like hanging in the wardrobe). You have an important message, I wish somebody had told me before, so I'll try to make it up by telling others, and I'm glad you do so too =)
Greetings in Christ!
Yes, and by the way, I've added the button =)
Hi,
I wanted to say that this is such a lovely idea! Thank you for making this post. I added your button to my blog. :)
I'm going to add it to my blog! Thank you for taking the important stand!

What a wonderful thing to see other young ladies out there with a vow to stay modest! I put the Maidens for Modesty graphic on my blog and will show it off proud. Thanks for the wonderful idea!
Kelly
Hi there....I'm in total agreement with your values. I dress modestly and also cover my hair.head in worship. But can I ask, why you chose to use a picture, as the one to include on other web sites, if you don't feel that picture is descriptive of your 'style'? Meaning....doesn't it send a message, from viewing this picture, that one HAS to dress with long skirts and long hair in order to be modest? I'd love to support your web site, but I'm not sure about the photo... is there an alternative photo or html code that I can use on my blog site? Thanks for your site. Do you post regular blogs?
Lindy: We used the picture because it was pretty with the soft colors and I really liked how it looked with our heads down and away from the camera. No, we don't dress this way every day - though I certainly enjoy these kind of dresses and enjoy wearing them on special occasions. I don't think that modesty is equated with long hair and ankle-length skirts, as I stated before, but there's a certain beauty to such things, that I enjoyed using to represent this. The picture is reminiscent of by-gone eras, when there were more modest maidens.
I realize that everyone's style is different, and not everyone likes the old-fashioned look. If you wanted to just link to the post, feel free, but at this point we don't have another graphic. Yes, we do post blogs regularly, which you can view by going to http://maidensofworth.org. Thank you for your input.
~Anna~
Thanks Anna....found the blogs after I left the previous comment. May God and His Righteousness be lived and proclaimed! Lindy

Hello! I put your graphic on my blog "Maiden of Modesty"!
Hello!
I have made a social network called "Modest Maidens". There are several "modest maiden" sites out there, including yours (maidens FOR modesty, maidens OF modesty, veiled glory, ect..) and I made the social network so that we all can come together and have our own profiles and connect. It's private and by invitation only. Please reply if you are interested.
Here's the site:
http://modestmaidens.ning.com/
(I'm still working on it!)
I've listed your site "Maidens for Modesty" as a link, I hope you don't mind. If you do, just tell me, I'll take it off.
Hello, I am also going to add it to my blog, http://bsjonesjourney.blogspot.com/ . I am still on my journey to real modesty, but would love to know if you have the pattern to those dresses in the picture, and where I could get it. They are so pretty.
~Becky
Great site, keep up the good work!
I love this--adding your button to all three of my blogs!
I added the button proudly to my blog. As the Mom of 5 girls, we are teaching them how important modesty is. Thank you for your wonderful blog!

I've added your Logo to my blog!!
Thanks for such a wonderful site!

I am a momma of 6 blessings (so far), 3 of whom are little ladies. I believe in Biblical modesty and am raising my children to honor Jesus and respect themselves through such modesty. I am proud of you ladies for standing on the Word of God and sharing this virtue with others. I have proudly displayed your button on my sidebar.

Hi. I'm not sure if my comment earlier went through (I was having internet problems). I love this site! I am "newer" on my walk with God, and think this type of thing is so encouraging as I grow and learn. I have added your site on my blog. :)
How nice to see your blog. I posted your link on my blog. Be Blessed.
I linked you on my blog :)
What a neat idea! You can add me to the list.
Hi Anna and Miriam,
I LOVE this post! I totally agree with the values you have listed. Would you please add me to the list of maidens?
Julia
http://jewelsbyjulia-lauren.blogspot.com/
My blog is called Julia's Journal.
I have added the link to my blog. My blog is very new and small but I am hoping it will grow. Thank you!
Okay, I put it on my blog! I have three blogs, but I put it on my Modesty: A Matter of the Heart blog. I'll probably also put it on my Madison's Musings blog.
I'm so excited as I was able to put your link in my sidebar quite easily. So...www.evanspatch.wordpress.com has you listed on their blog. Thank you ladies!!! I love that picture!!

I just wanted to let you know I added the Maidens for Modesty badge/button/thing to my site.
Thanks

We've added the badge! Hooray! Would you add us to your list, please?

Hello Maidens,
My sister-in-law, Abigail, posted your button on our joint blog www.pearlsanddiamonds.wordpress.com
I do agree with puritanismtoday that your picture might scare away the average reader--even one who is seeking to be modest. Especially in light of the recent pictures of polygamous Mormons in Texas making national headlines--wearing dresses of similar style.
That said, I myself like the picture and appreciate that it definitely sets a clear example of feminity and modesty--no question about that! Keep standing for biblical standards! :-) And keep loving Jesus most of all!
Blessings,
Lauren
