A Little Busy

I feel like the first month of the year flew by! I've had so much to do, that it just sort of passed me by. I have my schoolwork and two projects going right now...no, make that three. I'm crocheting edging on a baby blanket for my yet to be born nephew, two aprons still unfinished, and a new dress halfway in the works. The blanket must be finished before Sunday, so it takes priority, then I really must finish the aprons for my brothers! It's really hard for me to get all my schoolwork done on a Wednesday or Thursday. On Wed. we have choir practice, and on Thurs. we have band and ballet. I always try to at least get my Algebra lesson done, that's the most important right now. And...I've been memorizing music for our district music competition. It's not really a competition, though. All you do is go and play for 1 judge and he gives you a score (eg. Excellent, Superior, Needs Work).
One of my pieces is Moonlight Sonata and it gave me a little grief at first, but now all I have is a little bit of the last page to memorize. ::sighs with relief::
Memorizing is really not my strongpoint, so I have to work a lot harder than the rest of my siblings (who have all of theirs learned). Well, I'm rambling and there is probably something better I can be doing, so Adieu!

Ha! That's amazing! I'm just finishing up memorizing that too for my Grade 8 piano exam at the end of this month! Aaand...I just have a little bit of the last page left to memorize! Too funny! It's been a real challenge to get even this far, the piece is so full that it's hard to remember all the little transitions back and forth.

For instance, on what is my top of the second page, there is a litle section where it moves around in the left hand on F, G, and F#, and then moves to low C...I'm only just starting to have that particular bar nailed into my head now. It's one of those ones that just wants to trip you up! :D I know how you feel!

That "competition" is the same way mine is! Memorizing is difficult a bit for me to. However, I know that the Lord will give us the strength to do it! When is your competition?

It was good to have a post from you!

*smile of approval* I always knew you were a wise young woman, Miriam.

Sheila, That is really funny! I'm glad I'm not the only one finding difficulties with it... :)

Ella, the competition is in about three weeks. February 24, to be exact. Yes, the Lord does give us strength!

Susan, thank you. ;) I hate to disappoint you, but I only do it first because I hate to get behind in math. It is always so hard to catch up. To tell the truth, though, math hasn't been as difficult this year as it has been in the past. You might even say I've been enjoying it. ::gasp of shock::

Yeah, it is really tricky to memorize, but wonder of wonders, I finally played through it...without the music! Of course, when I played it again today, I had to check the music again, but oh well! Keep it up!

I have a music event coming up as well. Do they call yours the Junior Music Festival? My event works the same way except those who receive a superior + do end up in a competition. Different states do it differently. I am playing in a recorder duet, trio, and quartet.

Elizabeth, yes, they call it a Junior Music Festival. And it depends on how well you played if you get chosen for what we call the Honors Recital. They only choose three Superior+ students from each level to play. It isn't just piano, but that's all I've ever done in it.
