Life at Wisteria Pines

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers as I battled another cold. Praise God, I'm on the upward climb to being over it! It has been a much milder cold and hasn't lasted as long as most, for which I am very thankful!

Life here at Wisteria Pines (Mom's name for our place) is going pretty well. The days are somewhat busy, but I'm learning a lot through it all! Life sure is different with only two of us children left at home, but we're getting used to it. Jubilee and I play a lot of games together to make up for it, and we're in many things together - choir, band, and she even takes my ballet class! Teaching has been going well; in fact, I'm enjoying it far more than I ever thought I would. The girls are doing great! In band we're playing music from The Fiddler on the Roof, as well as two quick march-types. They're fun to play, but I'm beginning to wish for some new music.

I've rested a lot the last 2 days, and I am ready to be well. =) Fresh-baked cookies - Emily's Chocolate Chip Oatmeal - are cooling on the counter, and they turned out very delicious! Today is time to clean; I usually do it on Fridays, but am doing it today because I didn't quite feel up to it yesterday.

This afternoon I may work on one of my many sewing projects - I have quite a few. My cross stitch is ever near-by to work on while watching a movie or the news. My mother is teaching Jubilee and me to knit, and we're currently looking for yarn to start a scarf. I've also got many things to sew in my sewing pile, just awaiting my sitting down at the machine to stitch them up. Working with my hands is so enjoyable!

The weather has been weird, like any other Alabama winter. It fluctuates back and forth. On Wednesday I thought for sure that spring was in the air, but it's gone back to being pretty cold. Yes, it's milder than what a lot of you have with snow and freezing weather, but it's still pretty chilly! Some days I just spend my time migrating between the two fires that Daddy so kindly builds, trying to stay warm. They're great for thawing out cold fingers!

Due to Daddy going out of town this week, we're planning to have our family Valentine's celebration this evening, with the family's favorite meal - Pasties! We'll exchange cards and candy, which is always fun. After supper we're sure to play a favorite game or two, and enjoy being together.

Life is good. =)

Ah yes! Thanks for posting on my blog! Yes, I read your post on your skiing adventure! In fact, in encouraged me quite a bit! I'm also going to have a long beginner's lesson too, so hopefully that will help. :D
