Don't lose focus

In the busyness of life, it is very easy to lose focus. We rush through all we're supposed to do, hoping that somehow we'll achieve everything on our to do list for the day. Sometimes, going hither and thither, you barely have time to collect yourself, before it's time to go on to the next thing. Sometimes it seems like there's not much meaning to all that's going on, and you drag through, hoping that someday you'll be able to do some "real" things for God.

However, God calls us to do everything as on to Him.

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." ~ Colossians 3:17

You can praise Him while you wash dishes. You can praise Him as you're driving in the car to your next lesson. You can praise Him as your taking a shower or brushing your hair. He wants every aspect of our lives done for Him. Even the menial things? Definitely!

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." ~ 1 Corinthians 10:31

He wants even our supper to be eaten while glorifying Him!

Sometimes when we're going through life, it's easy to drag through our tasks, wondering if there really is a purpose in it all. "Does this floor really need to be swept?" "These school lessons aren't really applicable in daily life..." Sound familiar?

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." ~ Colossians 3:23-24

Yes, in whatever you do, God wants you to do it for Him; He is the One we should be serving day to day.

It's easy to loose focus; it's easy to gloomily drag through the tasks; it's easy to do something, but not put your heart in it. But,

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

He is the only One that matters. He is the one we should be praising as we cook the meals or do our school work. It's not easy to do. I, too, often find myself dragging through, just hoping to get done. However, take a minute, check yourself, and remember Who it's all about. Then, keep going, praising Him through all you do. It will make a difference!

That's a really good post, Anna, and one that I need to remember sometimes. I try to remember those verses especially when I play the piano. I want to play for Him! ALso, we are told to 'be still and know that He is God.' There is nothing wrong with that either!

That sounds like a lot of the time. Thanks for this reminder, Anna.
Like Ella, I want to play for Him!
And sing for Him!

Great post, Anna! You used a lot of my favorite verses.

"...whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

That is my aim. Thank you for the reminder!

I loved the verses! I've read those verses so many times, but they just seemed to jump out at me today!

Thanks for all the comments!

Bryant, one of my friends actually took it last year. She shook the camera up and down and back and forth while taking the picture, and it turned out pretty neat!
