Touching Stories

Are you looking for a good story to read? Look no further! If you haven't yet read them, I'd highly suggest that you sit down with a story written by Louisa May Alcott. Even if you've read them before, re-reading is always fun!

Today is a somewhat sleepy, cold afternoon, perfect for curling up with a good book. I haven't had much time to read lately, or should I say, haven't made much time. There's always so many other things to do. But today I gave in to the urge and sat down with a copy of Eight Cousins, a birthday present from Jubilee. Even though I've read it two or three times before, I'm enjoying it immensely!

Eight Cousins and Rose In Bloom, it's sequel aren't the only good books by Louisa May Alcott, however! What girl hasn't read Little Woman and related to at least one of the four sisters? Who hasn't laughed along with the tales in Little Men and Jo's Boys? Under the Lilacs and Jack and Jill are also enjoyable stories, though I haven't read them quite as often as the others. My all-time favorite is An Old-Fashioned Girl, for sometimes I can so relate to the trials of dear Polly! If you have a chance, grab one of these books, curl up in a cozy corner, and read to your hearts content. Or, better yet, sit by a crackling fire - which is what I'd be doing if my dear daddy hadn't been out of town. Us women-folk aren't nearly as good at building fires!

So what about you? Are you an Alcott enthusiast? Which one of her books is your favorite? I'd enjoy hearing responses! I won't read all afternoon, for there are things I really should do; but, excuse me for a while, as I go and again follow the adventures of Rose.

I read Eight Cousins this summer, and enjoyed it. I did not know that there was a sequal, I'll have to look for it. I think An Old Fashioned Girl is my favorite Alcott book, but it's been a few years since I read Little Women.

I recently found your blog through another blog and have enjoyed reading it a lot. I hope you don't mind my commenting, since you don't know me.
My favorite Louisa May Alcott is either Eight Cousins or Old fashioned Girl. But I have read all her books (I think).

Do I love Louisa May Alcott? You bet!!! She could be my favorite author. I would be hard pressed to say what is my favorite. Every girl loves Little Women, but I also have enjoyed Little Men and Jo's Boys. Jack and Jill was delightful. An Old-Fashioned Girl is great. But, like you, I love Eight Cousins and Rose in Bloom. I wish I had cousins like Rose! So gentlemanly and everything!

Ah, Louisa May Alcott. She has always been my favorite author. I have read Under the Lilacs or Jack and Jill, but I've read the rest of them.
An Old-Fashioned Girl is my all-time favorite.

DixieMaiden - Welcome to our blog! Yes, Eight Cousins does have a sequel, and you really should try to find it! It's really good.

Jaclynn - Welcome as well! Comments are also welcome. =) It's neat to hear everyone's favorite books

Ella - Yes, I know! There's so many books, it's hard to choose. Yes, more gentlemen like Rose's cousins would be wonderful!

Susan - Hmm.... I don't know, it'd be hard to guess... =) Just kidding. An Old-fashioned Girl of course!

Claire - Welcome to our blog! It's nice to hear from those who read it. I think the one book I haven't read is Good Wives Our library doesn't have it. Perhaps I'll have to search it out online!

Miriam - our tastes are quite the same!

Oh, wait. I searched Good Wives on Amazon, and it's the second half of Little Women! My copy of Little Women combines the two books, so I have read it! =)

I think I have read all of Louisa May Alcott's books. I love them! Eight Cousins is a favorite of mine as well as An Old-Fashioned Girl. Little Women is probably my favorite. My family was able to tour the Alcott home when we lived in Massachusetts. "Amy's" art still hangs on the wall!

I do love Louisa May Alcott. ^-^ I've read Little Women too many times to count.

I think, all things considered, I identify the most with Jo and, to a certain extent, Meg. But there are character qualities in Amy and Beth that I can identify with as well.

Yay! I feel the need to go read Little Men now. ^-^

I have read all of Miss Alcott's books, as far as I know, and loved them all, but An Old-Fashioned girl is my favorite one. I found your blog through Susan's, and although I haven't read a whole lot, I can tell that I'm going to like it.
Miriam, you really should read Jack and Jill, I think that that is one of the best ones.

Hi Angie! I hope you enjoy reading our blog.

Okay, I'll have to find Jack and Jill somewhere and read it. That one, and Under the Lilacs.
